Take Your First Steps to a More Active Lifestyle with Elmbridge Wellbeing Walks

As the weather turns cooler and wetter, staying active can become more difficult, particularly for those living with mobility issues or long-term health conditions such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, dementia, or asthma. Elmbridge Borough Council is helping residents overcome these challenges through its wellbeing walks programme.

Delivered in partnership with Ramblers Wellbeing Walks, the programme offers free, friendly, and supportive walks designed to improve physical and mental wellbeing through gentle exercise. Walking is a low-impact activity that is kind to the joints and can help manage symptoms, build confidence, and support a healthier lifestyle.

Weekly Inclusive Walk

An inclusive walk takes place every Monday at 11:30am from Xcel Leisure Complex in Walton-on-Thames. This accessible 30 to 45-minute stroll or wheel follows a level towpath route, making it suitable for people with varying mobility levels. Friends, family members, and carers are all welcome to join, and participants can stay for a coffee afterwards if they wish.

Additional Walks Across Elmbridge

The programme also features a variety of shorter, slower-paced walks across Claygate, Esher, Molesey, and Walton-on-Thames. These relaxed circular walks last between 45 and 90 minutes, following easy routes at a gentle pace.

All walks are led by trained volunteer walk leaders, are free to join, and open to everyone. They provide a great opportunity to get active, meet new people, and enjoy the outdoors.
