Surrey Police’s crackdown on illegal e-bikes and e-scooters continues

Surrey Police have made one arrest and seized five vehicles during their ongoing crackdown on illegal and antisocial use of e-bikes and e-scooters in Surrey Heath last week. The seized vehicles are set to be destroyed.

Sergeant Daniel Lomas of the Surrey Heath Safer Neighbourhood Team commented on the operation, stating:

“We know that the criminal and antisocial use of e-bikes is causing concern within our local community. This operation is about responding directly to those concerns and taking visible action against the people responsible.

E-bikes can be used legitimately, but when they are used by criminals to commit offences, evade police or behave dangerously and antisocially, we will take action. Our message is simple: we will not tolerate crime being committed using e-bikes in our communities.

We will continue to target those responsible, disrupt their criminal activity and, where appropriate, seize and destroy vehicles being used unlawfully.”

Residents are encouraged to report dangerous and antisocial e-bike riding through the Surrey Police website to assist ongoing enforcement efforts.
